technical review of poker site software
Many posters in the forum have considerable software expertise. For that reason, I think this is a good spot to discuss an idea that I have regarding online poker. Perhaps an organization with some respect/infuence in the industry will contribute, etc. Card Player and the player's lobbying group (I forget the org's name) come to mind.
I feel that there should be a review available of the technical quality of the various poker sites. I am sure that the competent posters here could develop a list of features that the poker sites MUST have to ensure fair play and fair resolution of player disputes. Here's one feature that I don't think is currently implemented by any poker site. The poker client software should maintain an encrypted log of the user and client software actions. From my experience of dispute resolution with Party/Empire and now with BODOG, the online poker rooms rely solely on their server logs. They have no idea what actually happened on the client end of the connection. They are unable to determine the user's actions or attempted actions. Nor are they able to determine if the poker web client failed or has a bug relevant to the situation. I know there are a TON of issues and potential problems with the above idea. Hopefully the smart folks here will point them out, discuss them and solve them. G'luck all, LVGamb00ler |
