1/2NL, AKo
Only been at the table for ~ 10 hands, but I had the initial impression that villian was a solid LAG.
6 handed. I ($190) raise AKo to $7 UTG+1. CO cold calls. Button cold calls. SB raises to $38. I have a strong suspicion that villian is trying to take down this large pot now. BB folds, I call, no-one else does. FLOP [Qh Ah Js] Villian bets ~ $60 into a ~ $80 pot. I have $150 left. My move? |

Re: 1/2NL, AKo
Im not sure a worse flop is possible for your hand. Against any reasonable range for your opponent here, you are crushed - you beat KK (which is unlikely enough based on his continuation on the flop), tie with AK, lose to pretty much everything else. If the flop was more innocuous, such as A74 or whatever, where you would be beating AQ, QQ, AJ, JJ, I'd likely go with it. The additional losses to QQ and JJ here really hurt though.

Re: 1/2NL, AKo
There is nothing wrong with pushing it preflop - that is my default play here. I like to have position and a headsup pot before calling with AKo here.
As played I don't know what you were hoping to flop. Check/raise all in - Villain can call you with AT and you have a gutshot when he has a set. |
