Wide Range: Viggo Mortensen, I've seen this guy in so many completely different roles lately, all completely different (from an amish kid, to a drill instructor, to LOTR)

Jack Nicholson - even lately his characters are very distinguishable

Short Range: anyone in Wild Hogs

I think Nicole Kidman can do just about anything after seeing her portay Virgina Woolf in the Hours.

After 'Spotless Mind' I started to think the same thing about Jim Carey, but we'll see how this holds up after that 23 movie comes out.

Keanu is the epitome of short range.

any movie hes in, they should just rename his character to "james caan" before they start filming.
unless hes made some secret movies i havnt seen?

I like Nick Cage even though from an acting point of view he is pretty bad.... he has like one move... the

but then again he IS Castor Troy

John Turturrow seems to have a wide range. Though he isn't known for leading roles.

Charlize Theron seems to be pushing the range envelope in some of the roles she's taken.
