Three Pair? Well Whoop-i-dee-doo...
This hand is against Roy Cooke. He's a writer for CardPlayer, and as far as I know is very good. However, he's definitely on the tighter side, like really tight, but definitely thinks well. He knows I'm a solid player, but we haven't played much so there's not a lot of metagame going on here.
Roy posts blind+dead in the CO, I'm in the SB. Folded to Roy who raises after a moments consideration. I'm going to give him credit for knowing that raising a very wide range of hands here is profitable. Button folds and I 3bet Ad3d in the SB. BB folds and Roy calls. The flop is 4s4d3s. I bet and Roy calls after a moment. I like to think that I have a good feel for these things when playing live, and my feel at this point is that he almost never has a flush draw here. The turn is an offsuit ace. What do I do? |

Re: Three Pair? Well Whoop-i-dee-doo...
I check/call here and use my feel on the river most times. Basically I expect this to get checked through a lot but I expect him to fold near 100% of the time if I bet here so I give the freebie. Online in LAG games I usually bet here to induce a bluff raise

Re: Three Pair? Well Whoop-i-dee-doo...
I usually c/c here a lot and do it with much weaker hands as well.
Sometimes I c/c oop after showing last aggression too much though, so if people are noticing then I throw in some c/r's with both strong hands and medium-strength hands like yours. Do you think against a tight player like I think RC is, a c/r just might get him off A6-A9? I don't play against enough tight players to know |

Re: Three Pair? Well Whoop-i-dee-doo...
betting the turn here would be bad. please check.
as for the river it's gonna be a tight spot. you definitely should check, but whether or not you should call is close. |

Re: Three Pair? Well Whoop-i-dee-doo...
I always move all-in when I have 3 pair. After they explain that I can't do that, I check and call.

Re: Three Pair? Well Whoop-i-dee-doo...
if the turn checks through don't we pretty much have to call a river bet?
