Forgot another one.
Mulholland Drive the scene in club silencio gets me every time. Partly because the scene is so beautiful and partly because they're realizing it is a dream. |

Unless I have misinterpreted it, which is obviously entirely possible. |

I didn't see this mentioned, and it's so, so obvious:
The scene in Terms of Endearment when Debra Winger has to say goodbye to her sons. And then, of course, the scene when she looks at her mother for just a split second, smiles...and dies. Ummm, uh, ahem--you guys see that game last night? Great game. I think I got something in my eye. |

Nice call on The Elephant Man. I assume you mean either the scene where... [/ QUOTE ] Both good scenes. I get caught out also by the scene where the doctor's wife first meets Merrick, and he shows her the picture of his mother. [ QUOTE ] Oh my God, David Lynch can sure make a movie. [/ QUOTE ] QFT. Edit: no, f*** being glib, I should say "I absolutely agree." And yeah, good game last night. Must be some dust in the air or something. |

Do you cry from the tiny old people too? I may be exaggerating, I'm not sure if the Silencio scene actually scares me. The first time I saw the movie I had a deep feeling of terror from the moment the opening credits started, and was too scared to close my eyes to go to sleep after it was over. I didn't even have any expectations of it being scary, something about the music and those dark Hollywood hills at the beginning just did me in. |

Sadness is also likely a very small part of the reason I tear up there. In one of my other posts in this thread I mentioned crying when Andy plays the opera music in Shawshank. I think I'm just overwhelmed by the sheer beauty of things sometimes. |
