Actually the flush wasn't my main concern, but I guess I just don't see a player with an AF this low bluffing often enough, especially on a board that's this scary.

Agreed that heros flop check in hand 1 is downright ugly.

Edited to say that I have played nothing but 6-max for a year and a half so my interpretation of how aggressive this FR player is may be off.

Who's going to bet your hand for you if you won't?

I agree, bet them both. What has you beat? With a super low AF, they probably won't be raising you, so at worst your betting 1BB to win 6.7BB and 8.5BB, right? Even if you're beat, you only have to be right once in a great while to have this work out. I think you'll be right more often than that.

Thank you for your responses! It seems like I must get over my MUBS. I guess I should have posted these to BBV rather than here.

I check/called both hands and lost them to flushes. But I believe now that betting in situations like this will be most +EV in the long run. In hand 1 button had A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. In hand 2 MP1 had K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], SB folded. But who cares...

I'll also try to c/r less. Without thinking too much I thought it was the best way to protect my hand.

TJO,

Important advice: Hand protection << value betting/raising.

The check-raise on the flop in the first hand should be just a bet out. But, to answer your questions: yes and yes. Those are easy value bets.
