Default Extremist Subcultures

I've always been really intrigued by any form of really atypical culture. KKK, Nazis, serial killers, whatever. It's got little to do with the actual values of the people involved, I just think it's fascinating how groups of people can end up so far removed from the rest of the world.

There are lots of really cool TV shows about this stuff and lately I've come across some pretty interesting forums/blogs online. Astroglide recently posted in OOT about stripper forums. Tonight there was a post about bestiality forums. The bestiality thing is a little too gross to really read a lot about it, but it's still pretty wild to realize there is such a big group of people having sex with their dogs.

Does anyone have links or TV show recommendations for things like this? I assume other people are interested in these kinds of things. I've always thought cults were really interesting but I've never seen a really good show on it. That seems like the sort of thing Discovery or TLC would have but I've just missed. The Wikipedia article on Jonestown is really cool and a good read.

Okay, so hit me with your best examples of wild and fascinating subcultures.

Edit: It doesn't actually have to be all that wild compared to "normal" social behavior. Strippers, for example, aren't so out there. More important is some facet of society that most of us just have no intimate experience with. More often than not that's something that tends to be on the insane side of things, btu I guess that's not really a requirement.

This is by far the most disturbing forum I've ever found. They aren't psychos or in any way harming people, but the amount of psychological damage these people must have sustained is mind-boggling. And even the source of that damage had to be severely abnormal.

lapoker, that's exactly what I'm talking about. The white supremacy folks are some of the most interesting because they're typically really outspoken so you get a nice big dose of their insanity.

I don't get the reference to iStewart, but I do have a favorite post on that forum. I may be leveled here, but this post is one of the saddest, most pathetic, and funniest things I've ever read.

I think you need to understand the definition of a subculture. This is a topic that interest me a lot but you don't seem to want discuss subcultures at all?

Maybe change your title to "non-conformative sexual and criminal behaviours & political views"?

Anyway im off to bed after 36 hours awake!

Peace

I've never understood the whole body modification culture. Or how it can be an actual lifestyle, which it appears to be for many. It seems as if they want to separate themselves, yet still belong to a community.

Why don't you give me some examples that better fit the word "subculture."

I don't know about sub-culture, but put this under weird interests: www.popthatzit.com

I'm both intriged and repelled at the same time.
