Does an ace check the river? He is a calling station, so there might be some value in making a bet/fold on river to get calls from hearts or 5s.

You can't bet because you have to fold if you are CRAI. Just check it down and hope your hand holds up

no bet fold on the river ... its likely he figures u to have the ace also and is just checking down to avoid paying more rake.

either way, if he doesnt have the ace, hes not going to call w/ anything but, so there is no value in betting.

op, you should definitely bet more on the flop and turn though. they should be near pot sized raises because if he has the ace hes gonna call, i promise.

That makes no sense. we often bet for value when we cannot call a c/r. This may or may not be one of those times.

What it hinges on is his range, and the hands he will call with. Start with the easy part.

If he has a boat of any sort, he will call any bet. (see theorum comma Zeebo) This means any 5. If a 5 were as likely to be in his range as an Ace, you would be 50/50. Against a good player, an A is way more likely, so the c/b is correct.

But this guy is special. He's a calling station. Calling stations invent reasons to call the way I invent reasons to bet. This means he doesn't need a 5 or A to call. He will certainly call with a made flush, and sometimes 66+.

This tilts his calling range way over the line to the point where we are ahead of more than 50% of his range. This means a valuebet/fold to checkraise is correct.

A check behind is tempting, because our edge is very thin, and I certainly understand it. It reduces variance a lot. I don't think it is the best line versus this player though.
