Re: How long is a long session?
tbh it sounds like ure wining like 1/2-2 buyins and just leaving trying to book a win.
you'll never make big money this way and you'll have to get over this mentality to ever really make money at poker |

Re: How long is a long session?
Normal session: around 2 hours (1000-1500 hands)
Session in which I'm stuck: as long as it takes. |

Re: How long is a long session?
If your starting to drift off and stop paying attention it can effect ur play quite a bit, i know it does mine. When im in for a long session ~4 hours i take the odd break when i feel im drifting off and just on auto piolt to make sure im actually paying attention and playing good, go make a coffee or do some press ups helps focus no end!

Re: How long is a long session?
A couple hours with 4 tables usually does it. If the deck is cold or just boring (raise pf -> c-bet -> fold) I might loose interest sooner.
Also, whether or not you play 6-max or FR should also matter in terms of how many tables. |

Re: How long is a long session?
It depends on your goals and your abilities.
Why are you playing? 1) For Fun/Entertainment? Play at stakes you enjoy and are comfortable playing. Play one table if that is what you like. 2)To Learn/Improve? Play one table in a short session and focus on your reads and decisions, review session afterwards (while it is fresh in mind) in PT and post hands you had a hard time with on 2p2. 3) For Money: Learn to play more tables, focus and learn to make reads and notes even when other tables are buzzing with action. Get comfortable doing this at low stakes and move up when you can. If you can only focus for 45 minutes, you may want to consider working on increasing the # of tables to get more hands in (while you are "fresh) I find adding tables forces me to focus and helps me play longer without boredom. I probably avg ~800-1000 hands/session, 1-2 hours, no more without a break. |

Re: How long is a long session?
Yeah, I think gradually upping the length will be the best way to build stamina. I'll start multi-tabling again and see what happens. Thanks for the input everyone.

Re: How long is a long session?
When I did it full time, I played 2 4 hour stretches a day, with a 20 minute break inbetween
