Car Question - Proper Turbo Cooling
Just broke into my new car, it's got a pretty big stock turbo and I'm eventually gonna install a timer, but for now, I usually take long drives of 50 miles or more during the day and want to know how long I should cool it for before shutting it off.

Re: Car Question - Proper Turbo Cooling
2 minutes is fine, I usually don't even bother for most drives where I'm not fooling around, but then again my car is a 15 year old Talon

It's really too bad there isn't a car forum on 2+2.

Re: Car Question - Proper Turbo Cooling
I thought new cars turbos don't need to be run or idled anymore, unless you're doing 60 on the highway and pull over immediately, then you shouldn't shut the car off immediately.. But if youi're puttering around before you park, I had heard it wasn't a big deal to let it run before shutting it down.
