I didnt post this to try and get legal help. It was suggested so it got me thinking. I had never thought about persuing this legally until it was suggested.

2) Receive $7500 for your friend's $10,000 debt.
3) Don't worry about it anymore.
4) Profit.

On a more serious note..I don't know how collection agencies work or if they would buy this kind of debt, but you might want to look into it. I know to all your $40,000,000 NL guys that this isn't a lot of money, but $10,000 of personal debt that doesn't get paid back in the real world is a lot of freakin' money. If he's going to be a bitch about it, find yourselves a few witnesses (maybe another friend that heard you discussing this debt with him) and take his ass to court. He's obviously not your friend..you don't need to worry about losing a friend. The statute of limitations in a lot of states is 2 years, so don't put it off forever.
