200NL, 99 gets 3bet, ragged flop
Villian just sat down, no reads.

Final Pot: $269 I guess i could have just pitched it pre. I think a fold is a little weak on this flop but I don't really know where to go after that. Like the check behind on the turn? I really don't want to commit myself here and get c/r AI. I was looking for a cheap showdown on the river and obv he pushes. Is this fold ok with no reads? Thanks... |

Pitching it pre >>>> than playing 3-bet hand like this vs. complete unknown, even if you are in position. Probably standard to fold to a 3-bet preflop vs complete unknown with anything but TT+,AK

Fold to 3bet vs unknown. Postflop is good.

Re: 200NL, 99 gets 3bet, ragged flop
Don't pitch it pre, you have a very high potential hand, and a hand that stands to be good by itself often enough. Just happens that the board you got was gross.
I call the flop, and probably check that ugly turn as well. When he moves all in on the river, I actually think the chances you have the best hand go up. That board is scary. In my mind, you're looking at a flush, a six, very occasionally a set, very occasionally an overpair, and quite often whiffed overcards that include a diamopnd, IMO. Preflop action would seem to preclude, or at least make less likely, a lot of the hands that would value bet that river. I still fold like a girl, though. |

pitching this pre against an unknown is pretty standard for me...if im calling the first time he has 3bet me, its pretty much for set value only.

[/ QUOTE ] Well to call it's 10% of effective stacks and hero will be playing in position in a three bet pot. Even if it's just for set value I play this hand. The fact he'll also be ahead a decent amount of time is an added bonus. |

[/ QUOTE ] True, reverse implied odds suck balls. I still play with position, though, particularly in SSNL where whiffed overs usually will not put you to the test, whereas big pairs will let you know soon enough. |

Re: 200NL, 99 gets 3bet, ragged flop
prob pitch it on the flop against an unknown...22/44/55/TT/JJ/QQ/KK/AA ahead w/ 33/ close and any weird draws or A3 close or killing us...AK/AQ/AJ(maybe) 99/88/77/66...behind...along w/ air
