[/ QUOTE ] Not if it was enforced without the subjectivity thats there today. People go 3-10 over because they will rarely get a ticket for it, even when driving past a cop.

[/ QUOTE ] In California the officer is trained and tested to be able to accurately estimate speed. The officer's gross estimate of your speed + the radar gun's precise estimate is much stronger than the word of the camera alone.

I can not believe that so many people would support this type of law enforcement. I am not promoting speeding and reckless driving. I have actually never had a ticket other than parking tickets and have no accidents on my record. I just feel that ticketing people through the use of a camera is a violation to our personal rights. The government does not need to monitor our actions constantly to keep us in check with the "law."

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know how much weight you can give to such gross estimates. You can't just be charged with "speeding". They have to show you were going X mph over the speed limit.

[/ QUOTE ] private -vs- public [/ QUOTE ] Without arguing the legitimacy of taxation or the government: you're opposed to: the public--through tax dollars--building a road, then the public--through the government--deciding that there should be a maximum speed on these roads, and then finally the public--through tax dollars again--paying someone to enforce those rules. Is that correct?

[/ QUOTE ] A breathalyzer in every car is very different, just like a camera in your car or house would be different. Just so you know, I would be opposed to UK-style CCTV cameras on every street corner. But cameras operated by human beings aren't really a huge expansion in law enforcement efficiency.
