Default Good time to bluff river? Or spewage?

Sorry if this output isn't the cleanest, converter sucks.

Villain is about 32/18/2 over 45 hands or so. I probably seemed nitty (as usual).

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($131.10)
Hero ($102.65)
Button ($85.20)
SB ($120.72)
BB ($115)

Preflop: Hero is MP with 5c 5h.

I open for 4 from CO, SB calls.

Flop: ($31.50) 2, Q, J (2 players)</font>

He checks, I check.

Turn: ($31.50) 6 (2 players)</font>

He bets 5, I raise to 15, he calls.

River: ($31.50) 9 (2 players)</font>

He bets 15, I push.

His smallish turn raise smelled fishy, as did his smallish river bet so I felt like this might be a good time to bluff.

I think the flop is a better time to bluff (cheaper too)

As played, looks like a spew. I think he will call far too often, plus the 9h fills lots of his possible draws.

What did you put him on? From your raise on the turn you cans ee he has something he likes and the river card hits a lot of draws. I would raise more on your turn bluff. Why arent you cbetting this flop?

I didn't put him on anything specific, I just sensed weakness in his bet sizing, figured he could have just about anything but he didn't seem too proud of it whatever it was.

I cbet here maybe 85% of the time, this just happened to be one of those times where I didn't.

"I just sensed weakness in his bet sizing"

I sense donkiness in his bet sizing. I generally don't try to bluff donks. You took your stab on the turn, he called and bet river. He has something. Fold river.

Personally, I don't like the river play purely because (as already mentioned) that 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] could have gave him a big hand. Although if you had a feel for how he was playing and how he'd bet in that situation then you did the right thing in going with your gut.

Nothing specific, but dont you try to put him on draw, weak pair, monster, etc.? If this is how he plays top pair is he a player capable of folding it? Does he block bet draws? Why dont you think he is feigning weakness? Without more information I dont see the logic in bluffing here.

Yeah I see what u mean, he actually folded so I patted myself on the back, said waytobe bluffing the river for a change and it worked!

Now ... I can see that maybe this wasn't the best spot. I mean, my gut told me to bluff and I was right but I suppose his line could have meant hearts so it was far from an ideal spot to try a bluff.

Thanks for the replies all.

I don't like it. He bet/calls turn meaning he has a decent hand or a draw. When he bets the river again I fear his draw got there or he atleast improved to two pair or something. I don't like the bluff
