you dont beat anything here that he 2nd barrels. AcJc, KQs,KK,QQ,AK,maybe AA, are the only things he bets turn with, even AcQx checks turn i think. fold is good

rethought it a bit. still not quite sure. i dont 2nd barrell here with AcKx or AcAx and I dont see any reason to bet anything more than 250 on the turn if i have a set here. i like the fold more now, because i dont want to play big pots really not knowing where i stand or what to do when a fourth club hits here.

Question from a much lower buy-in player:

Does anyone bet this flop? My standard play would be to bet the flop 2/3 - 3/4 of the pot planning to fold to a re-raise. If I get called, I might bet the turn if it's not a club. Is this horrible? My concern is that if I don't bet the flop and villain bets, I might be folding the best hand.

I'd play this the same. The only hand you beat here is AcQx.

But yeah, you are a nit.

Response from a much lower buy-in player:

You've considered being called on the flop if you led out but did not consider what you would do if you were raised.

If you lead out on this flop and are raised (inferring that stack sizes are near to equal) you've lost control of this pot with 2 cards to come. Depending on his aggression level, villain can raise you with a non-nut flush, a wide range of other made hands (2p, set), semi-bluff draws including the Ac, or pure bluffs. Too many variables to consider. Check/calling the flop allows for further information gathering and pot control, especially in this early stage of the SnG.

My post actually did say that I was planning on folding to a raise on the flop.

But you bring up a good point about the range of hands villain can raise with. I wonder which gives more information - being raised on the flop or checking and being bet into on the flop. Which is more likely to be a wider range of hands? My thought has always been that checking will induce more bluffs and the raise on the flop is more likely to be a made hand or possibly a draw with the Ac in this case. This may be a leak in my play, but if I don't bet here I find myself lost in how to interpret villain's bet, since I give much more weight to the bluff possibility.
