$5NL - Two pair with multiple callers

Just moved to 6max (from FR)at the beginning of this year mainly playing $2NL and now trying $5NL. I have only played around 1k hands at $5NL, and had a pretty bad session last night. Want to see what I am doing wrong.

Here was my very first hand at the table.

I think my bet sizing is a problem here. I did not want to scare anyone too much on the flop so I only bet 1/2 pot, I was really trying to build a pot here. I still feel good on the turn, but I am a little surprised that I still got two callers.

On the river some draws make it, but not the spade draw which is the only one I was really paying attention to (certainly AK would have bet at some point and 89 would have folded) Should I have bet the river? I still feel like I am making a value bet here, but am I pushing this top pair/bottom pair too hard now? Should I just check the river and plan to fold to a bet greater than half the pot?

I would bet more on the flop. Definitely bet more on the turn. River I probably check/call.
