[ QUOTE ]
is it possible for the IRS to do an inquiry at the pokersite you play?
and i mean not the amount you cashed out... but ask for playing records/handhistories
and do the pokersites give such information if tax services ask for it?

[/ QUOTE ]

zero chance of that happening/you getting in trouble for it if you are actually paying your taxes.

you say zero change.....
but what if you dont/dont sufficient pay taxes
CAN they ask to the pokerroom to hand over playing records/hand histories from example big cash games ?
and is the pokerroom in their gibraltar jurisdiction allowed to deny that request?

I dunno what happens if you don't pay sufficient taxes, but probably unless there are huge red flags and lots of money floating around, your liklihood of getting caught isn't tremendous. But in any case if you want to rest easy it's always best to just pay what you owe.

However I suspect that if one has made a relatively small amount of money gambling, that it's +EV to not report it.

Curtains, I was not being sarcastic or anything.

What you say is true, I mean in the real world with all the tax issues out there if I honestly pay my taxes on the amount I won this year (as one long session) I really doubt I will ever get hassled. The jaywalking example captures the spirit of it well. Its just a nice reminder when I have the tendency to get all riled up over what is probably a moot point.
