when i get raised on the turn im almost certain im beat but i call down anyway, certainly didn't feel like i played it right

should i just accept that im beat and fold when raised on the turn or call trying to hit one of my 5 outs at 8.5/1 and fold unimproved on the river?

or is it possible he has a weaker king and/or is trying to snap off what could appear to be continuation bets often enough to justify my calldown?

Hi,

45/15/1.5 is pretty aggressive. He could easily have a KJ/K9 type hand here as well as 2 pair/set.

I call down here too.

as mentioned by ipp, his stats are pretty aggro, so i wouldn't be surprised to see a lone K raising you here. i would call down here too. there is no chance of me folding as even if he has a 2 pair hand, we have some outs when we are raised on the turn.

Not to mention semi-bluffing the flush. I call down here too and expect to see a worse hand enough to make it profitable.

i guess my play seems ok in retrospect, but for some reason i felt like i just KNEW he had 2 pair or 89

he did have 10's and 7's and while i understand why people think i should call down here, am i the only one that thinks that the average poor player (i certainly didn't have any read on him as being especially aggressive) at these levels very rarely raises here without 2 pair or better?

for what it's worth, the 45% is saw flop, not vpip

A few things to think about:

1. Small blind might just suck at poker, but taking this sort of line with a set or a straight is pretty bad. The fact that he's shutting out two players may make it a bit more likely that he doesn't have one of those monsters, though, again, he could just be oblivious.

2. You have a ton of outs against a lot of two pair hands.

3. A 1.5 agg factor for a 45 vpip is quite high.

4. You're getting almost 5-1 on a call down.

5. The presence of other players means this is a bit less likely to be a bluff.

In the balance, it's marginal, but I prefer a calldown. The next best line would definitely be calling the turn and folding the river unimprove getting 8-1 on what will often be more than 5 outs if you're up against 2 pair. I think folding the turn outright is probably the worst of the 3.
