Hypothetical: Universal Health Care
If the US decided there would be basic universal health care for every citizen starting tomorrow, what would you invest in and why? Just trying to exercise my brain tonight with this little hypothetical and would be interested in what others have to say.
Looking forward to the responses. |

[/ QUOTE ] I'd probably use a globally diversified portfolio using index funds in the following asset classes: 20% US large cap 20% US large cap value 10% US micro cap 10% US small cap value 10% REITs 20% International 10% Emerging markets I'd also make sure I get my complete phyiscal and all necessary work before it goes into effect. -Tom |

Re: Hypothetical: Universal Health Care
I think this is a sector hypothetical. Assuming I had non-public information about this (and assuming I'd be committing no securities laws violations), I would short a basket of health care insurance companies, and I'd do it with leverage.

[ QUOTE ] We already have basic universal health care for all citizens. [/ QUOTE ] We have Medicare and Medicaid but this certainly does not constitute universal health care. [/ QUOTE ] Those are gov't payment programs for reimbursement, we also have basic universal health care which is the actual question at hnad. You can link wiki all you want, it means nothing either as a 'source' or an [lack of] argument. |
