Datamining is the process of collecting hand histories of hands that you are not actually playing in. These hands are imported into PokerTracker to increase the number of people you have stats on and the number of hands you have for each person. More stats per person means you have a better idea of their playing style. More players means you are more likely to open a table and have an idea of what the table dynamic is without sitting down.

It can be done (there is a/are program(s) that can be purchased), but it's cheating and unethical, like botting. Although most people would argue botting is much worse, cheating is cheating.
