Default that moment of sheer TERROR that we all hear about!

OK... I was sitting in a $300 buy in no-limit game and I had about $850. A solid player ($1,000)who doesn't get out of line too much, raises in early position to $40 (8x bb). The button calls($300), the sb calls($650), and I am in the bb with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and call.

Although this is a big bet to call with a 6 high out of position, i felt that if i hit a gin flop, I could get good value! The flop came 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. The sb bet out $50, I decided to just call hoping that the preflop raiser would raise, which would allow me to go over the top and get him to potentially lay down an overpair, or I would go to the river with a respectable draw.

My plan started to come together as the preflop raiser pushed in a raise to $250 total, but what I hadn't accounted for was the button or the sb having a real hand... The button pushed all in for an exact total of $250, and the sb quickly reraised all in for a total of $400 on top of the $250. Not wanting to rush a decision of this magnitude, I requested time and began to compute the math to the best of my ability (I'm NOT a math guy)!

If nobody had a bigger diamond draw, i felt like I was getting a good price, but I couldn't be sure nobody had 10 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], in which case I would be drawing to a runner runner full house. As I was thinking, the sb who was committed already told me that he had a set and that he didn't want to get drawn out on! I felt like the preflop raiser had an overpair, and wouldn't be able to call after all of this action, but even without the rest of his money, I am still getting great odds! I decided that I thought that the button had floped the straight, the sb had a set, and the preflop raiser had an overpair.

After at least a few minutes, I shoved all of my chips in... Calling the $250 and the $400 and raising another $200. The preflop raiser thought for longer than I expected and eventually folded.

The button showed 99, the sb showed 77, and I showed 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], the turn came 2 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and the river came 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].

I scooped a massive pot and had a smile on my face, but I wanted to know what people thought. Should I have raised the $50 on the flop? Should I have folded? Should I have just called the sb all in? I won the pot, but as we all know, that doesn't mean that I played the hand well... Looking forward to hearing what you guys think!

ok boss... not exactly the constructive poker theory i was looking for. Add a couple of zeros to the end of everything if it helps you compute better fukkeneh.
