Re: Would a licensed US only site be successful?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Title VIII of the Act is also known as the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. This title (found at 31 U.S.C. § 5361-5367) prohibits the transfer of funds from a financial institution to an Internet gambling site, with the notable exceptions of "fantasy" sports, online lotteries, and horse/harness racing. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] If it matters to your argument, your quote's bold statement is not correct. Perhaps that was your argument? |

Listen Federal Government Cant step in to state operations!
The Only time federal government has a right to step in is if its the best interest of the country and of national security. Califorinia has long proved even though marijuana is illegal on the federal level that the states have a right to legalize as long as its not hurting the security or freedom of the country.! Many states have legalized simple posession of marijunaa even though its against federal law and trust me the federal government has lost every single time. The same will happen in online gambling!

Also its in your best interest that the USA legalize poker. That means you always get paid ( no shaddy operations) (the cards will always be fair, RNG will be a must no doubt) (no employees will be playing in any game for the sake of the game) ( If harrah's opens a online poker room you will seem more promotions than these other greedy bastards could ever give!

Re: Listen Federal Government Cant step in to state operations!
I would 100% move to a site that was regulated by the U.S. It would be a 100% safer as far as money goes. I don't think there would be as many accounts being randomly shutting down. I would even pay more in rake just to play a site regulated by the U.S.

Re: Would a licensed US only site be successful?
Yes, it would be successful. Just look at the example of Svenska Spel: it's one of the five largest online poker rooms in the world, despite only being open to Swedes. They reported tremendous profits a while back.

Too bad I do not like their client and they have 5 max instead of 6 max games. |

Re: Would a licensed US only site be successful?
The problem with a state licencing and opening an online poker room only to those citizens within their borders is that there would probably not be enough traffic to find good game selection (with the exception of california and new york). that is not to say it wouldn't be profitable, but for the serious online player it just would not compare to stars, full tilt, or party.

Re: Would a licensed US only site be successful?
It could never happen without the US being forced to allow all the foreign poker rooms to be opened back up unless it wanted to break about 15 foreign trade treaties.
