I also needed a casual shoe and picked these up today in brown and black. So far I haven't received positive feedback on the way they look, but I think they look stylish and they happen to be the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Any thoughts?

zappos.com is the [censored]!!! Their service and shipping is unbeatable; they price-match, and are awesome and fast at dealing w/ returns for whatever reason.

I <3 Ecco's for price:comfort ratio in the casual category. I rock these every day w/ my jeans:

Most of em aren't very stylish, but they are awesomely comfortable for chillin/walking/whatever, and they have a handful of simple/plain styles which is what I like, and sounds like what Bruiser needs.

Steve Maddens look stylish but the quality is [censored], IMO. Overpriced for the crappy quality.

btw I wear the same shoes almost every day (not balla, I know), but they stay v nice cause I put the cedar shoe trees in every night.

These links are for very expensive shoes. But I might as well post them in the shoe thread.

Comprehensive guide to high-end shoes (including what they refer to as "shoe porn"--pictures of high-end shoes, nothing to do with foot fetishes):

Another guide (though without any links to shoe porn):

Default Sock Questions

Probably not worthy of starting a whole new thread, but I think sock questions could fit nicely in here. So here we go:

What kinds of socks do you were on a daily basis with casual shoes (i.e. non-sneaker, such as brown leather loafers or lace-ups as pictured above)? Any specific brands that are particularly comfortable / cheap / nice looking? Available online?

If I'm wearing jeans and brown leather shoes, I've found that you can be very flexible about the color of your socks. I've run the gamut from just going for solid navy or dark brown to all kinds of argyle. Any interesting thoughts here?

Generally, with a suit or with sneakers, I find that socks seem less important. My standard move with a suit has always been to go with department store purchased dress socks. Similarly, for athletic socks, I've always just bought in bulk at department stores, but maybe I'm missing some awesome opportunity here. Again, any specific brands that are particularly comfortable / cheap / nice looking?

Default Shoes

What are your opinions of these? They're a little more expensive than I would like, but I wear a size 6 and have very limited options. Also, what's the approximate cost of getting a good pair of shoes resoled?

In case anyone here is interested in high-end shoes, I found a place online that sells Crockett & Jones cheap: http://plal.com/crockett.htm

They are based in Malaysia, so the prices on the side are in Malaysian dollars (M$3.50 = $1.00). So the shoe prices are around $350/pair.

They also have sizes down to 6.

I have no idea how reliable they are or how long shipping takes, though.
