Are the players in this game really that bad?
Are these bad players mostly just no clue tourists with money to lose and call all the way to the riv everytime with AJ unimproved?
I played the 8/16 last time at Bellagio and Wynn and did pretty well so I am considering moving up to 15/30 when I come out in March. Can you guys describe some differences, if there are any between the two games. Does the 15/30 play loose enough to employ what is learned in the book SSHE for instance.
Thanks for the info.

Its not that its so loose....its that some of the players are horrible. I actually saw a hand this weekend where a seriously wretched senior citizen led out and was raised HU on all three streets. Raiser shows down like TP medium kicker on the river. Senior citizen mucks.

I really don't pay so much attention to my cards in that game...more the other players and looking for situations. On the occasions it is folded to LP, its easy to raise with a very wide range of cards. But up front, I tend to play extremely tight aggressive. I'll put it this way...at Commerce 20/40 I limp about 70% of the hands I play in MP if there is a limper. Generally we are gonna pick up 1 or two more limpers plus the blinds whether I raise or not. At Bellagio $15-30, I raise nearly 100% of the time in the same position because I'm folding everyone behind me and both blinds much of the time. And them limpy ain't calling unless he hits the flop hard.

So it doesn't play loose/passive with lots of people limping and calling to see the flop?
More tight/aggressive preflop with few seeing the flop (like 3 people or heads up) but then bad players continuing to bet and raise with nothing or not much post flop.
How does this compare to the 8/16 at Bellagio?

Yeah the only thing you need to worry about is that aggression in that game means something different than aggression online. In that game, they're too retarded to try any 3-bet semi-bluffs, free showdown raises, or checkraising draws with relative position, etc. There can be some passive players, so their turn raise will mean some crappy two pair more often than it means middle pair + flush draw.

If you have AQ and the flop is Q53 and you bet and get called, and the turn is an 8 and you bet and get raised, don't 3-bet because you have TPTK. You're up against 83s.

thats for sure. lots of 2 pair specialists. alot of the 2 pairs you wont be able to see.

Some players are tag, but lots of tight/passive/weak.

I like the $8-16 at Wynn and $10-20 at Mirage over the $8-16 at Bellagio. In general, the players in the Vegas $8-16 are pretty bad as well. But you will get more 5 and 6 way pots in those games than you will in the $15-30.

Thanks for the inpit guys - just got back from Vegas today and played in 15-30 Friday and Saturday - it was pretty much as you described - on both days the table consisted of:

2-3 Vegas grinders (predictable)
1-2 TAG's, strongt players
2-3 loose, very bad player

Some pretty fishy games overall - but like someone said it sometimes pretty hard to put people on hands (lost AA vs. K6 off that went for 4 bets preflop)....If you can beat 5-10 short online you sould be able to beat this game (although I was totally card dead both days and only eeked out a minor profit - 14 hours of play and I saw AK once....makes for a long session)
