Re: 99 on CO vs EP raise
It was over 120 hands.
I'm around 17/10 and I'm raising K/Qo , A/Jo 100% of the time so I think we have a wide range here. |

Re: 99 on CO vs EP raise
you're right though that a read over like 27 hands isn't that useful

Re: 99 on CO vs EP raise
Standard line:
3bet preflop. This is to isolate on the EP raiser, who we are obviously hoping just has ace- or king high. Also to take control of the hand and/or see if he caps (if he does, this narrows his range significantly & allows us to play better poker postflop). This obviously changes the way it plays postflop, but assuming I just coldcalled as you did... Raise the flop, as you did. When he doesn't reraise, bet/fold the turn. I doubt that he's going to bluff/semibluff check/raise the turn very often at these stakes. Betting will probably fold out overcard hands which did not contain a king, and is vastly superior to giving them a free shot at rivering their 6-outer against you. At higher stakes I could see potentially checking through in order to induce a river bluff, but I don't think you're going to get ace high to bet into you enough on .50/1 to make this a worthwhile gamble. If called on the turn, check through the river UI (and especially when the third club hits). If he was calling down with ace high hoping you were on a clubs draw, he's probably not calling a river bet. And I doubt that he's going to find a fold with AT/QQ/JJ there. |

Re: 99 on CO vs EP raise
my pfr in my old nitty incarnation was like 8.5, and utg my range was 88+, kjs+, kq+, and at+ .
so 11 is gonna be even more hands that 99 beats or can take a flop away from. |

Re: 99 on CO vs EP raise
right i was just (and only) saying it for pf purposes, as an argument for 3betting pf and not folding

Re: 99 on CO vs EP raise
I agree cold calling was bad - a 3bet would help us narrow his range depending on if he caps or calls.
He had 10/10...a badly played one postflop |
