Facing turn donk w/middle pair
$1/2 6max Stars
BB at the time is sort of unknown, the table overall is playing loose and somewhat passive. I open in CO w/K8s, BB defends. Flop 873r. Check, I bet, he calls. Turn 9. BB donks, I ?? Just call down or raise-fold? (or even fold now?) |

Re: Facing turn donk w/middle pair
Well default is to calldown. I like raise/folding a good river though like a 4/2.

Re: Facing turn donk w/middle pair
Ok, I just called down. It just didn't feel right at the time because I thought I was most likely against an OESD or a better made hand, which made me consider the turn raise-fold. I suppose he could have done this with a smaller pair but it seemed less likely. Villain showed his wonderfully played set w/88.

[/ QUOTE ] I'd hesitate to raise the river, not due to fear of being 3-bet bluffed, but because we're at an equity deficit against stuff he would actually bet twice and call the raise with (say anything with a nine, decently kicked eights and sevens, T7+, 86+, 76, some stubborn pocket pairs, and some bigger hands that won't 3-bet.) |

Re: Facing turn donk w/middle pair
I don't like the logic of raising the turn b/c he might be on a str8 draw vs most opponents. This is b/c most people will bet twice on the turn AND river if they miss. If you raise the turn, you still get 2 bets but he won't call the river. At the same time, if he happens to have a hand better than you he will never get more than 2 bets out of you.
