Tirp Report: Fixing the messed up ceiling (with pic.)
I messed it up, and part of my kitchen ceiling was gone. Some contractor wanted $600 to fix it. I was ready to pay, until I talked to this guy that I know well. He said I'm crazy to pay that kind of money and said, "I help you."
Great. We went to Lowe's and paid $15 for a piece of a drywall and mud. First thing we needed to do was to actually tear down the ceiling more, so that the drywall will fit nicely. This is how it looked after the tear down was complete. Now it's time to put the drywall up. The width of the kitchen is just a little shorter than 8 feet. This means it's perfect if we can put the drywall between the ceiling and the wall, but that didn't happen, so we had to cut it a little bit. Before putting some mud on it, we had to tape the joints. After that, we put some mud, wait it to dry, sand, put some more mud, wait, sand... Repeat until it looks good. Once that is done, it's easy. Just prime it and paint it, and this is the end product. Actually I'll put one more coat. FYI, I used Benjamin Moore for the paint. As you can tell, almost all the work got done by my friend. Thanks Ziggy (his name)!!! |
