Re: Sports Moments That Give You Chills
First of all, this one always gives me the "Cringes"
I literally have to look away when I watch this one, if you haven't seen where we get the term, "Boom goes the Dynamite" you have to watch this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W45DRy7M1no But the one that made me cry was the ESPN feature on this little girl who had cancer and wanted to play baseball with her friends at Safeco Field. The Mariners made it happen, and they played this song, "My Wish" and for some reason, I am watching it, and tearing up. I told my wife it was a great piece and she had to watch it, so it comes around again the next hour, and F*#K, I am crying again! If anyone knows how to find that video, or watched it, tell me if I was crazy or it it was that cool of a piece. |

2007 Fiesta Bowl: Boise State vs. Oklahoma [/ QUOTE ] Wow I wish I had stayed up for that. [ QUOTE ] Baylor tries to score a touchdown on UNLV with 1 second to go, up 3 at the UNLV two yard line. They fumble and UNLV returns it 101 yards for a touchdown to win the game as time expires. [/ QUOTE ] Kevin Thomas, DB drafted by the Bills? Interesting I didn't find anything on youtube for Syracuse-Georgia 1996 - it was a sweet 16 game that airs on espn classic occasionally. I was 15 and my entire childhood had been filled with heartbreaking, gutwrenching OT defeats in the tourney. It was one of those "you just know your team is going to lose" games, except they actually won in heart stopping fashion. Al McGuire on the mic as an added bonus. |

Re: Sports Moments That Give You Chills
That Kerri Strug video is amazing. I remember watching that.
Also, it's so funny that she, her parents and her coaches all look like trailer park trash. The Liverpool - Milan clip could have any cheesey music, I will remember that game to the day that I die. It's the greatest game ever played in any sport. Ever. I also loved that Jimmy V speech, but what really game me the shivers was wikipediaing him and realizing he died less than 2 months later. As for that basketball photo, it's amazing. Truly one of the greatest photos I have ever seen. What game is that? Who's the photographer? You should make him president. I'm having a really tough time finding the clips I want, what I wanted to find the most is from the 1976 Canada Cup, when Sweden play their first game in Toronto. Börje Salming is then given a standing ovation for over 5 minutes, during the players' presentation. |

Re: Sports Moments That Give You Chills
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] In Bud Greenspan's book and one of his films on the Olympics: When the winner crossed the finish line in the 1968 Mexico City Olympic marathon, officials thought the race was over. Then, an hour later, John Stephen Akhwari, a runner from Tanzania, entered the stadium. Bloodied and bandaged from a fall, he limped painfully with every step. As Akhwari made his way around the track, the crowd began to cheer loudly. When he crossed the finish line, you would have thought by the roar of the crowd that Akhwari had been the victor. Later, when asked why he had not dropped out, Akhwari replied, “I don’t think you understand. My country did not send me to Mexico City to start the race. They sent me to finish the race.” [/ QUOTE ] This is awesome. [/ QUOTE ] |
