What's the big deal about the NYT mentioning PPA?

What is soon? Within a week?

Is this an article or a paid advertisement by PPA?

I'd say "soon" means within the next week, but I can't promise that....I'm not writing the article.

I have no idea if it's a paid advertisement or not, but I highly doubt it. I don't think the NYT's plays that game.....it's not responsible journalism.

As for why it's a big deal.....

Well, it's pretty important the PPA get more members so they can have a stronger voice in DC.

As well all know from reading this forum, half the problem for the poker lobby is players can't even agree on what organization to support. Everyone wants their opinion heard, they want daily updates from the PPA, etc.....we all just sit around shooting ourselves in the foot.

Hopefully the 2+2 laywers and PPA lawyers work things out and Mason can give a recommendation. It would really help things I think.

And, I don't think this article will be "just mentioning the PPA" in the NYT. It's going to be an article that hopefully opens people's eyes to the issue......as in people who don't read 2+2 and have a very limited idea of what's going on.

The article could just as easily be an expose on the real financial backing of the PPA. As you say, you're not writing the article. Be careful what you wish for.

Hopefully, the article will be positive. But your expectations alone do not make it so. Hell, the article could simply be about how successful the post-UIGEA envrionment has been in choking off online poker, as far as you or anyone else not actually writing the story knows.

I'll wait for the article and read it for myself (assuming it's published), and then decide what it actually says.

lol, ok man, that's a hell of an idea. Go smoke a cig and relax.

You are correct, I do not know what the article will say, but I have spoken to the writer.....so maybe, just maybe....I have a pretty good idea what it might say.

But anyway, I do agree with you. You should absolutely read the article before you decide what it says. Awesome idea.

Assuming it's a full-blown article on the PPA/efforts to save online poker (and that it has a positive tone to it), I would say the fact that it's published in a huge newspaper is a pretty big deal.

Anyone have Wall Street Journal contacts? If it shows up there, I bet powerful people will notice.

lol, no. I just thought the name was funny. Maybe I can work my way into some type of honorary member of the Ship it Holla crew.

I'm too busy to play much poker these days, so I don't think my play at the tables would be enough for the Ship it crew.

It isn't terribly surprising the NYT would consider an article since a prominent long time NY politician has become chairman of the organization in question. My guess is the piece is mostly a "hey Al, what have you been up to? Poker, cool" type piece.

Its doubtful the NYT will have enough depth on the issue to ask the tough questions though it could be a good thing for a major media outlet to spotlight the woes of online poker.
