Live 5/10 vs. 10/20 ?
I've been playing 5/10 in AC (mostly Trop, sometimes Taj)for a while now with good success. I'm thinking about moving up to 10/20 at the Taj. Besides the bigger ante, what adjustments are needed for this game ?

Re: Live 5/10 vs. 10/20 ?
The ante is proportionally the same. $.50 is 10% of $5, and $1 is 10% of $10. You're probably not going to change much. I've found that east coast stud players suck about the same whether it be $1-5 or $20/40.

Agreed 5 10 is little different than 20-40. The 1-5 spread limit has its own special breed of fish, however.

Becasue of the tight structure in both games, the games tend to be similarly tight. But you will probably find that at 10/20 there is more aggressive play, more trickery and better more aggresive players. Don;t be fooled and just learn who the players are and the way they bet. And be very selective about which hands you play in either game.

Re: Live 5/10 vs. 10/20 ?
The few times that I've sat down at 10/20 (10/20/30 at the Trop) it seemed to be a lot of tight-ish regulars who have a clue how to play stud. Not too many chasers like in 1/5 & 5/10. Of course, it could've been the times that I've played too. My days off from work are during the week, so I'm not able to play on Sat./Sun.
The Taj game seemed more tricky, while the Trop game (which doesn't even go anymore) had more people "trying out" stud. BTW, I like the Trop 5/10 better than the Taj for the same reasons. Does the 10/20/30 game at the Trop even go anymore on weekends ? |
