Nice read. Congrats on a fun and successful weekend. Those nits who are flaming you are just jealous donkeys. I'll bet they never won $4200 in 3 days of playing. Bunch of nits.
Do another one when you trip again. Even if you don't do as well. |

good read.
but I think you misplayed your aces when that guy had kings. How deep was he?? 4th bet=aces. you shoulda just called with position and won a monster pot. |

[/ QUOTE ] At the risk of getting flamed for inserting strategy talk into the B&M forum, I'd be appreciative if someone could clear up these thoughts for me... So in this hand, if you just call with position there it's clear that your opponent has a good pocket pair (say, TT-KK). So if you're smooth calling there and not representing the aces, he's likely to think you're on aces anyway (or at least, that's the hand he's fearing when you call). So post flop, if an ace hits you'll get no action even if he hits his set. If he misses his set, you win the same pot you'd win by reraising preflop. If he hits his set and you don't catch an ace, you get stacked. By calling, the only way you can hope to get a good result is if he's got kings or queens on a small flop and believes your pocket pair is lower. I'm sure there's probably a good discussion of this in another forum, but I haven't seen it (or gone looking). The discussion here just got me thinking about it. It's one of the parts of my game I'd love to improve on too. Thoughts? Edit: Wanted to thank the OP for posting the TR. Nicely written, despite the haters. I enjoyed the read; it got me pumped for my trip next week. |

Re: Vegas Trip Report (no hookers/blow this time around, just poker)
I probably could have played the aces differently, but I'm not sure. I am happy with how I played it because the guy had me covered and why not get all in with the best of it. I had about $1100 (I think) and he had well over $1500. I just felt I was pushing all in on pretty much any flop and was ok pushing all in preflop because it was guaranteed I had the best hand.
He was actually mad at himself for not just smooth calling my initial re-raise to see a flop and felt he played the hand poorly. |
