Re: Random facts from your favorite movies...
Here's one that is pretty well known, but is worth mentioning:
The scene In Raiders of the Lost Ark where Indy just shrugs and shoots the huge Arab swordsman was originally supposed to be a long, drawn out fight scene. But Harrison Ford got really sick during the filming and suggested that Indy just shoot the guy. |

Dirty dancing almost didn't get released because Jennifer Gray was 17 during filming and a bunch of right wing nut-cases thought the movie promoted sex with minors in an inappropriate way.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within
Dr. Aki Ross' hair is only half as dense as the average human crop, however, that still left 60,000 strands to put realistically into motion. When designing the computer graphics, a fifth of the time spent was devoted to those 60,000 hairs. Wedding Crashers The painting of Jeremy (Vince Vaughn) that Todd Cleary ('Keir O'Donnell' ) creates and gives to Jeremy was kept by Vaughn after filming. |

Joe Pesci's character Nicky Santoro was based on real-life Chicago gangster Tony Spilotro. As portrayed in the movie with Nicky and his brother, Spilotro and his brother really were beaten and buried in an Indiana cornfield together in 1986. |

[/ QUOTE ] Most everyone in that movie was based on real characters, Ace Rothstein = Lefty Rosenthal, etc. Not a movie, but Paulie Walnuts (Tony Sirico), will never flip, he has it in his contract that his character wont rat becuase he actually has some connections to half assed wiseguys in new york. |

JAWS:
When the shark goes into the lagoon and knocks the guy out of the boat, you see a leg fall to the lagoon floor. That was a real leg of a cameraman that dropped his camera during the accident and it filmed his own leg sinking to the bottom. |

Re: Random facts from your favorite movies...
Full metal jacket
Former US Marine Corps Drill Instructor R. Lee Ermey was not originally hired to play Gunnery Sgt. Hartman but as a consultant for the Marine Corps boot camp portion of the film. He performed a demonstration on videotape in which he yelled obscene insults and abuse for 15 minutes without stopping, repeating himself or even flinching - despite being continuously pelted with tennis balls and oranges. Stanley Kubrick was so impressed that he cast Ermey as Gunnery Sgt. Hartmann. The videotape demonstration was not the only factor which got R. Lee Ermey the role as the drill instructor. Ermey went to Stanley Kubrick and asked for the part, as the actors on the set were, in his opinion, not up to snuff. When Kubrick declined, Ermey barked an order for Kubrick to stand up when he was spoken to, and the director instinctively obeyed. That sealed the matter, and Ermey won the part as Gunnery Sgt. Hartmann. |
