Re: why veganmav is vegan

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] FWIW I do not oppose to eating animals. I just oppose to these cruel and wasteful practices. [/ QUOTE ] so if you had your own self sustaining farm where animals were treated humanely and you could kill them in a way that was humane you would eat meat? [/ QUOTE ] Is there some sort of cruelty-free meat company? I bet that they'd do pretty well even with higher prices. [/ QUOTE ] I would bet against that. Mass appeal is for lower prices, not being nice to cows. [/ QUOTE ] There was something on last night,PBS I think, about Whole Foods. At one point they mentioned introducing "animal compassionate" meat products- here is a link to their web sight explaining it. I for one don't care so I will choose the less expensive meat everytime. |

[censored] it, I'm going to get some filet mignon for takeout this thread is making me so hungry. I also have some bbq chicken in the frig for backup later. That should be delicious. [/ QUOTE ] Why doesn't this kinda joke ever get old to you guys? This certainly doesn't bother me in the slightest. It seems a lot of the meat eaters, when confronted with the ethical/health/environmental impacts of the food decisions they make every day, get defensive and think that 'our' side would prefer they feel guilt and not get pleasure from eating meat and other animal products. I never guilt my friends or bring this stuff up when I go to dinner with people, unless they ask me about why I'm mostly vegan (I eat fish every once in a while) Don't you guys ever think ahead to the future and worry that just maybe the choices and habits you form early in life will catch up with you? Don't you guys worry about heart disease and clogged arteries? Like I tell a lot of my meat eating poker playing friends when they prompt me, you can do yourself a lot of good by just decreasing the amount of animal products you eat and increasing the amount of unprocessed plant food. I have little interest in trying to convert people to become vegan (a choice that takes a long time, a lot of work and committment if you've eaten the typical american diet all your life) but I do care about my friends and family and want them to live long, relatively disease free lives. Obviously same applies to getting excercise and enough sleep to stay healthy. |

Re: why veganmav is vegan
veganmav-
I'd like you to answer these questions: 1.) How does eating out of garbage reduce world hunger better than modern agriculture and economic prosperity? 2.) How does eating out of garbage reduce your "eco-footprint"? Do you think the amount of food produced in America changes at all if you eat out of the dumpster or eat out every night? If not, do 3.) You state that you are not a vegan because you aren't an animal lover, but then state that the treatment of animals is why you are a vegan, but most people aren't bothered by the treatment of animals in todays society. Doesn't that make you an animal lover? 4.) You consistently state that you are against "waste" as a reason for not supporting modern dairy or cattle industries, yet these modern methods produce much more food than older methods. Do you account for this given you are against "waste" or are you simply against the machinations of modern industry in cattle and dairy? Do you really believe that old methods are more efficient than current methods? 5.) The environmental impact from agriculture is quite drastic as well. Considering your prior statements seem to suggest that the environment is prime, how do you even justify your existence on earth at all? |

they should take the male baby chicks, dip them in batter, and toss them in a giant deep fryer.
