This is a 10 team, keep 12 league. We are considering expansion to a 12th team this year, and may only keep 10 to make sure there is a player pool for the new teams, so who should I keep in both situations? It is a H2H league that scores on the following: R, HR, RBI, SB, K, FPCT, AVG, OPS, W, L, SV, HR, K, ERA, WHIP, K/BB. EDIT: Also, we do play a utility player as well as the standard field positions.

Josh Barfield
Eric Chavez
Jose Guillen
Aubrey Huff
Jeff Kent
Gary Matthews Jr.
Magglio Ordonez
David Ortiz
Corey Patterson
Scott Podsednik
Ivan Rodriguez
Mark Teahen
Miguel Tejada
B.J. Upton
Armando Benitez
Dave Bush
Jose Contreras
Freddy Garcia
Dustin Hermanson
Jason Isringhausen
Cliff Lee
Kevin Millwood
Mark Mulder
Brett Myers
Joe Nelson
Vicente Padilla
Billy Wagner
Barry Zito

As you can probably see, my pitching staff killed me last year. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Ok, so apparently the league voted to up the keepers to 15 (it just keeps getting worse) does this change anything? Who should I go with now? I'm half considering using this year as a youth movement, and trying to get a bunch of young talent to go forward with from here on out.

Can you rate my draft?

Standard 10-team, non-keeper, 5x5 roto, with round drafted in ():

C - V-Mart (3)
C - Piazza (11)
1B - Nomar (17)
2B - Roberts (7)
3B - Atkins (5)
SS - S. Drew (12)
OF - A. Jones (4)
OF - Sheffield (8 )
OF - Swisher (9)
OF - Bonds (21)
U - F. Thomas (14)
U - Alex Gordon (16)

P - J. Santana (1)
P - Carpenter (2)
P - Kazmir (6)
P - E. Santana (10)
P - Hamels (13)
P - Bedard (15)
P - Capuano (18 )
P - Borowski (20)

RS - Youkilis (22)
RS - Clemens (19)

Also, since Youkilis is pretty worthless in a 10-team league, I was wondering if you thought Kendrick was a good pick-up, as he's a FA.

Thanks.

you shouldn't really need software. just have one guy at a computer with an excel workbook. make one sheet the list of players, and have one sheet for each team. program in formulas for the dollar values so you can keep track of how much money is left for each team. cut and paste whenever a player is drafted.

give everyone a pencil and paper with a team outline so they can keep track of what positions they need filled. if they want to keep track of everyone else's team too, have them bring a laptop.

C-. i think you really reached for some guys, especially vmart, sheffield, swisher, e. santana, and drew.

is there some widespread anticipation that sheff is going to bounce back huge? he's old, injury-prone and moving to a canyon. i want no piece of him in the top 100.

i would pick up kendrick and trade roberts for a closer.

Random question...didn't want to start a new thread?

Is buying a baseball prospectus subscription worth it? It's $40 for a whole year.

i would go ahead with the rebuilding plan.

the extra keepers aren't really very helpful for you. i guess keep patterson, millwood and kent? try to trade patterson to someone who doesn't understand how OPS and K kill his value.

If you can get a 16th person to be the auctioneer that helps.

Not sure how you plan on setting the calling out order, but my baseball league lets last years champion go first, then we go in a circle around the room. That's random, quick, and easy.

If you are going with a normal auction, it's helpful if you allow each team a couple of timeouts.
