Anyone playing at Casino del Sol in Tucson?
If so, what games are you playing?
I've played the 2-20 game a couple times recently (did horribly), but am convinced that it is a very, very beatable game. |

Re: Anyone playing at Casino del Sol in Tucson?
Casino del Sol mostly spreads three games. 2-4 and 3-6 hold 'em and 2-20 spread limit hold 'em. Sometimes there is a 2-20 spread Omaha or 3-6 Omaha, but they don't usually get off the ground because the Hold 'Em jackpot is bigger. Occasionally there are mixed games--mostly 1/2 Omaha High or Hi-Lo and half hold 'em.
The rake is very high. $5 max including jackpot. Of course that affects the profitability of the low limit games, but they are typical in fishiness for the limits. There used to be 4-40 spread limit hold 'em on Tuesday nights, but that game has changed to 5-150. It also breaks out once in a while on Thursdays if there is a tournament. There are also wacky games overnight sometimes. They played 2-20 spread limit Crazy Pineapple high a few nights ago. As to OP's idea that the 2-20 game is beatable--it is if you are extremely good, or practice good game selection. There are very tough tables and very weak ones. |

I did until I got blacklisted for being underage hah. Didn't really like the poker room there, but it's not like there's anything else around.

Re: Anyone playing at Casino del Sol in Tucson?
A dealer at Del Sol and I actually began the 4-40 at Del Sol a little over a year ago. We we're at a 6-12 that broke and we came up with that curious spread. It morphed down to the 2-20. Anyway, a slightly loose late position plus hand protection raises on good draws/vulnerable hands is a typical start for beating those games.

I've never been there, but I play weekly at Desert Diamond. DD normally doesn't spread a spread game, but they've spread 5-50 hold'em before. They always spread a 3/6 game. Lately they've had two tables of 6/12 and 8/16 with interest lists all the way up to 20/40.

I usually play 3-6, but I dabble in 2-20 sometimes.
