Default How much can I call for set value?

Villain is a 14/10 tag (or something like that) and so I'm 105% sure he has me beat. However, after I raised and he reraised, we had some followers.

What do I do in the following situations after raising pre.

1) If everybody else folded?
2) If one player called?
3) If two players called?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

SB ($97.75)
BB ($66.45)
Hero ($100)
MP ($96.15)
CO ($26.10)
Button ($194.70)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.50.
Hero raises to $4, MP raises to $14, 2 folds, SB (poster) calls $13.50, BB calls $13, Hero calls $10.

Flop: ($56) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, MP calls $96.15 (All-In), SB folds, BB folds, Hero folds.

Final Pot: $152.15

PF call is fine, and the flop is an ez fold. You played it fine, nothign to worry about here.

Yes, but how do the odds work? If only one player called, am I still right to call?

You're about one in eight to hit your set so you need to figure that you can win eight times what you're being asked to call.

But this kind of thinking assumes you're gonna double up every time you hit your set. This is simply not true. Some players can actually fold overpairs, and sometimes villain will just have AK or two random cards.

I find the "You can call up to 1/8 of your stack preflop for set value" thinking flawed.

I believe Dan Bitel recently made a good post about the odds needed to call with a PP OOP.

Note the bolded words. Against some players, you can call getting pretty minimal odds - against others, I'm not calling unless I'm being offered especially good odds to hit, or unless I think I outplay him postflop. Also, once you get to the mid pocket pairs like 88-TT, your hand has some showdown value.

I usually dont like to invest more than 1/10 of my stack pf with poket pairs, unless i have position and its a mid pp (usually TT or 99). Going with 1/8 is bad because you defenilty dont get their stack every time you hit.
