I believe Dan Bitel recently made a good post about the odds needed to call with a PP OOP. [/ QUOTE ] I tried a search, but couldn't find it.. Could anyone help? |

I'm a believer of thinking I can get 10 to 1 if I think the villian has an overpair. You're 7.5 to 1 to hit a set on the flop but that's assuming every time you hit your set you automatically win which obviously isn't the case.

Don't forget that when you are OOP it is a lot harder to get paid when you hit. I think the price is too high preflop to call.

Even thinking about folding this preflop is crimimal IMO. You're about 8:1 to hit a set, so that means you have to make on average 8 times the amount you're calling when you hit a set. In this situation, it's 10 to call and there's 46 in there already, so that means on average you need to be able to get an extra 40 or so the times you hit. Given the preflop fireworks, you have to assume you'll get at least one bet called if you hit a set - and I think it's likely you'll get a stack.
Also, the 1/10 stack thing is okayish, but remember it's effective stacks - so if someone is short it's 1/10 of their stack. |

lol - okay, I was being polite (okayish doesn't have a positive connotation), but I do stand by the reasoning I gave.

OP - in regards to your original question in this situation:
1) If everybody else folded? I'd fold. 2) If one player called? If I respect both their games, I'll probably fold since I don't think I'll stack them off often enough. If they're nothing special, I'll call. 3) If two players called? Always call. |
