Cincinnati chili in Cincinnati
I'm heading to Cincinnati tomorrow and want to try some new Cincinnati-style chili. I say "new" because there's Skyline and Gold Star where I live, so it'd be cool to try another spot in town. I like Skyline better than Gold Star for whatever that's worth. Thanks!

Re: Cincinnati chili in Cincinnati
skyline = cincinnati chili.
only other I recall is Empress chili. never ate there. Skyline used to be better at the older locations. (Montgomery road in Kenwood, Clifton, Oakley etc) Not sure about that now. Graeters ice cream for dessert, FTW. |

Re: Cincinnati chili in Cincinnati
I haven't lived in Cinci area for a few yrs.
I really miss Skyline. For those not familiar, it's usually served as Chili-Spaghetti. But it's not at all the same kind of chili you would get in Texas or elsewhere. Except for Empress I really never knew of other chili-spaghetti places besides Skyline and Gold Star. I also never tried Empress. Outside of the Cinci area there is chili-spaghetti at Steak and Shake but it's pretty lousy. I know some non-Cincinnatians who seem to like it okay and I feel like a snob for thinking "it's not even CLOSE to the same thing" but I'm pretty sure any self-respecting Cincinnati chili-spaghetti fan would feel the same way. Friend of mine from high-school who moved to New Mexico would get occasional packs of Skyline-mix or something from Kroger sent from his Mom. |

Cincinnati Chili = Disgusting
Cincinnati Chili = Disgusting
I think the Skull and Bones society backed by the illuminati invented this disjusting dish as part of their plans for world domination... One spoonfull is enough to put your tastebuds out-of-commission for a week. Even Brits turn their nose up when offered Cinn Chile.. |

[/ QUOTE ] I get a case (24) of canned skyline shipped about twice a year. It's not the same as fresh, but it's close enough to take the edge off the cravings. It costs about $5 bucks a can. |

Re: Cincinnati chili in Cincinnati
There really isn't anything outside of skyline and gold star to the best of my knowledge... except for some local places like price hill chili and camp washington which both cower in the way of Skyline's awesomeness anyway.
Stick with skyline! |

4 way 4 life. [/ QUOTE ] Word. I have to drive past 2 Gold Stars to get to the nearest Skyline. I barely notice them... |
