Re: 10/20NL Folding AA?
Benefits of Pushing:
-charges the maximum to a worse hand/draw that still might call -takes down a nice pot when he folds without allowing him to make a better hand -takes the bluff on a scare card play away Assuming AA isn't already beat, then the above points are certain. Benefits of Calling: -allows him to bet a worse hand if he doesn't improve This perceived benefit is not certain, as he can check/fold AJ/QQ or a missed draw on the turn that he might have stacked with on the flop. |

Re: 10/20NL Folding AA?
Most draws will have odds to call, so you gain no benefit from pushing.
When he folds, you had the best hand, and you gave him no chance to bluff off a significant portion of his stack on the turn. Folding his worse hands is NOT a benefit to you. Folding his draws IS, but they wont fold, because the pot is too big. So the ONLY thing that you gain by pushing is you dont allow him to bluff you off the pot if a scare card hits. If you call, then you give him room to - get his stack in on a 4o turn card with a draw, that you are now a significant favourite over - fold the turn for 1500 of your stack, when a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] hits and you would be beaten - allow him to bluff off a lot/all of his remaining stack on the turn with a worse hand like AJ You gain nothing from the hands that will go to the felt on the flop by pushing, and you LOSE a lot against those hands that will fold the flop when you push, but get it in on the turn with a substantially worse hand. You see, villain will go to the felt on the flop with - Better hands than yours - Big draws He should normally fold - worse one-pair hands, or no-pair hands You do not want him to fold worse one pair (or no pair), you would like him to fold his big draws, but you cannot achieve that, so instead you can see a turn card, and decide whether to get it in there. If a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] falls on the turn, then the range of hands that are now beating you has increased dramatically, and you can pass your hand safe in the knowledge that you are behind his range. If a blank falls, then you give him the opportunity to push with a hand that is a big underdog. |
