Re: WTF - Setup change?!?!?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Splawn, scroll up a little. The part that is quoted in bold is from MY post above. Angus didn't edit anything. [/ QUOTE ] He made it appear I was replying to you when I was not. Combined with him quoting me as saying something I never said, it's pretty clear he's got some sort of an agenda. [/ QUOTE ] 1. Ask Tom (the guy you responded to) if he meant that they never change set-ups at all, even if the cards are bad. You implied that is what he meant. I doubt if it is. 2. You don't think cardrooms allow know cheats? [/ QUOTE ] That post was a correct statement. The way you misquoted it was not. It's very simple - I say what I mean, and if you want to repeat something I say, then do it by quoting it without paraphrasing or changing the context. Because what I say may no longer be correct after you change it. |

Re: WTF - Setup change?!?!?
Just to clarify for a couple of the posters:
A "setup" refers to both decks together in a pair - not a single deck of cards. It also has nothing to do with the seating arrangement. It also can refer to the process of readying the cards for play (where we lay them all out for you to gawk at). If there's something wrong with the cards, by all means bring it to your dealer's attention. That's a "good" reason for a new setup. Generally, though, it only serves to slow down the game which cuts into dealer tips, house rake, and the guest's playing time. It is not uncommon to see setup changes refused though. Guys playing 10 minutes into a 30+10 rebuy wanting new cards is kind of rediculous, but it happens regularly. But yes, the days of setup changes 3x an hour are pretty much over... Also, the setups are used and discarded and used for relatively short periods of time. They're not used over and over. Maybe in Vegas they can get away with it, but not here. |

If anything, it clarifies the exchange that you were responding to. All 3 quotes you were responding to. The line he paraphrased to makes your response a red herring. Fwiw, I thought the same thing he did when I read it. It was as if you didn't even read that part. But whatever. It's not like you're getting a reputation of being paranoid or arguing for arguments sake... b |

Re: WTF - Setup change?!?!?
I was at my local casino last night playing on one of those new fangled Pokerpro machines.
The guy next to me kept complaining about not "getting any hands." A few minutes later he says 'can we get the cards washed on this thing?' I look over at him and fake a smile at his lame joke, but then after watching him look helplessly up at the floor with puppy dog eyes I realized that he was being serious. |

Re: WTF - Setup change?!?!?
I just got back from Reno and on the last day was playing in a 4/8 game. A couple of dealers were sitting in the game and one of them asked for a new set up. I was very surprised that a dealer would make this request so I asked her why she did. She said "just to change things up". I'm not surprised when other players ask for a change, but a dealer?????

[/ QUOTE ] I don't know how it is elsewhere, but we most definitely use a 2-deck setup in tourneys and rotate bewteen the two decks at specified intervals. Also, you might be confusing the meaning in my second sentence. To clarify: It's common for people to ASK for a setup or deck change in small tournaments. |
