Bodog Not Compatible with Windows Vista

I recently upgraded to Windows Vista, and the current version of Bodogs software isn't compatible with it.

Basically everything else poker-related has worked fine. I wouldn't recommend upgrading right away unless you're somewhat computer literate.

In Windows XP, if you right click on the .exe file you are trying to open and go to Properties there should be a "Compatibility" tab where you can open a program in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows. I would be surprised if Vista lacked this feature.

It has this feature, but Bodog still won't open. It gave me the same "Network Problem" box that it gave me before.

I suppose it's possible there's a Vista firewall that blocks Bodog, but allows every other pokersite?

I don't think it's a Vista problem. I have a friend, former sysadmin, who has been bragging lately how Bodog doesn't crash on his Vista ever. You probably should take a closer look at network/security settings on your machine. Haven't seen Vista so I can't be more specific. Another long shot is you are using dogwatch, which might be modifying bodog executable on the fly and Vista might have problem with that.

I run vista also no problems with bodog. However vista is picky you might want to run as administrator. Or make sure your user is set to use all write commands and so on.

Vista can be very picky.

Also look into running it as a xp or 2000 program see if this helps. Might need to just look at your firewall setting too they will block a lot of programs from accessing the internet thus not allowing it to connect to the network.

Yea, I tinkered around and finally got it to work. Vista's kind of annoying.
