6 handed on PP.....I have been playing for a little while (15minutes) and have a stack of $3000....the villian isn't known to me but his on afew tables and doing well; he's been pretty aggressive up to this point.
Holding Ac Jc Villian opens MP $90 - folds round to me on the button Hero raises $225 What do you guys think of this raise? I feel this was a good way to see where I am against an aggressive player and to isolate him (that was the idea). Flop comes - 9c Tc 7d Villian bets $300 Hero raises to $1100 Comments on this play?. . . Villian pushes all in (he has me covered). . . It's an easy call now right? Just wanted some thoughts... how is your reraise pre gonna see where you are? most opponents will just call/fold here. This raise doesnt give you any info imho.

Raise more preflop. Its not a 'big' draw If villain has a set but I would'nt mind gambling in this situation. Villain could have easily tried to trap you with aces.

Would you recommend raising to $300ish then preflop. . I just didn't want to flat call this bet on the button. . is my thinking right here or wrong?
I thought if I can put alot of strength preflop and it's checked to me on the flop it's easier for me to take if I miss? Chris |

In general, you need to at least triple someone's bet preflop if you want them to consider folding.
The stack sizes are awkward on the flop there for your raise-to-1100. I'd prefer calling or pushing to your mid-sized raise. |
