April Vegas trip suggestions?
I am planning a trip to vegas Sun-Wed in April. I'll be staying at the Flamingo. I am looking for any suggestions on where I should play during my stay. I'm currently doing very well at my local card room at 3/6 limit (full kill). The tables there are usually pretty loose- 5 to 7 to a flop.
There isn't any cardroom NL available to me nearby, so my only experience is the pick-up, shorthanded .25/.50 game that sometimes goes on in my basement. It's mostly for fun for my friends. There are only maybe 2 1/2 maybe 3 (including myself) good card players in the NL basement game. Any suggestions for a NL game to get my feet wet at and the best limit games for my trip? My total bankroll that I'll have available at that time should be $2000-$3000. |

Re: April Vegas trip suggestions?
Most any of the strip poker rooms will have 1/2 NL that you'll be fine sitting in.
With your roll, stay away from the 2/4 and 3/6 limit games. It plays more like roulette anyway, and the rake and tips will eat you alive at those levels. Try 8/16 at Wynn or the V. Good luck. |

[/ QUOTE ] I was just in Vegas and I had multiple good experiences in the MGM Grand 1/2 NL. It has a $200 max buy-in and in general was filled with novices. The regulars I encountered mostly played TAG, and were easy enough to deal with once you recognized them. I'm posting my trip report in stages and I will make it to MGM at some point. |

Re: April Vegas trip suggestions?
I was in Vegas in December this year and July of two summers ago. The two summers ago I played at MGM. Didn't do to well, but I had never played at a casino before that and was easily intimidated. Maybe it's because I lost but I didn't really like MGM as a whole. The whole place just seemed nasty compared to other casinos. A terrible smoke venelation system and just not my favorite.
This December I played 1/2 at Mirage and did really well. Supposedly this is where you are supposed to find some of the toughest competition in town according to a website I read. I'm not sure if it was talking about 1/2 games or not, but they were nothing I couldn't handle. Nice room setup, and nice dealers. Just more professional looking in my opinion than MGM. Had the look of a card room to it, not just a card setup like MGM was to me. Just my opinion. |
