Getting the most out of my ipod
I finally caved in and bought my first ipod (ipod video 5.5 gen). I'm just wondering what utilities would be useful and if you guys have any general tips or tricks. I know the screens scratch pretty easily; what kind of sleeve or case you you recommend?

Re: Getting the most out of my ipod
I bought a case from ifrogz - you can get a silicone case, screen protector, and even a disk to cover the wheel. You can mix & match the case & wheel cover colours. You can even upload your own image for the wheel cover.
It doesn't interfere with the usability of the scroll wheel, and you can access the two ports & lock switch with the case on. |

I have and recommend the Power Support Crystal Jacket. It's clear and about as thin as you can get for a hard case, but provides all the protection you'll need. It also comes with their clear film for protection against scratches when you want to take it out of the case.

Re: Getting the most out of my ipod
I don't know if you have a PC or a Mac, but getting video onto an ipod is kind of a pain in the ass on a PC. There's some free solutions like videora and stuff but I could never get them to work right for some reason. I just came across a program called Clone DVD Mobile that I'm loving though - it's pretty much a 2 step process, super easy process to get video onto the ipod (rip the dvd with DVD Decrypter, run it through Clone DVD Mobile) and it's faster than any other solution I've tried. It's around 50 bucks but they have a 3 week trial with no restrictions which is what I'm using right now. Give it a shot if you're looking to put dvds on your ipod.
Man that totally sounds like spam, but I really am happy with the program. |

Re: Getting the most out of my ipod
I dl some deal that was 30 bucks. At first I had some probs but I uninstalled and reinstalled it and now it works great.
I have a laptop that's not old but not top of the line by any means. I can upload the DVD to my lappy in about 45 minutes. Then put it on my iPod in about 5 minutes. Overall I'm prettyt happy with it now. But if you actually decide to BUY a DVD dl from iTunes be prepared to take a while. I have a good roadrunner conn and I think it took like 8 hours to dl. |

Re: Getting the most out of my ipod
Your DL speed sucks then, this is clearly my opinion, I dont have aa video ipod, but a few weeks ago I dl'd a free video of the week a golf tips thing at my work we have 256k that is shared by everyone, it said it was going to be a 6 hour DL(1 hour show), I stoped the job and when I got home and opened up itunes, it resumed and was done pretty quick(for sure less than 30 minutes probably less than 10) I do have a 15M speed at home which makes everyone elses hi speed seem like it sucks.
