Re: 2008 Presidential primaries thread
[ QUOTE ]
Personally, I think Obama's smoking is actually pretty cool, not becuase smoking is cool, and I know smoking is dumb, etc, but for some reason, it makes him seem more human, I cant explain why, but the image of the president in teh oval office, having a smoke in this age of PC crap, while mulling over some tough decision is kind of old school. I realize this makes no sense, but whatever. [/ QUOTE ] basically your point- that smoking makes obama seem more "real" is part of the biggest thing he has going for him in this election- he seems infinitely more 'real' than many of the other candidates |

Re: 2008 Presidential primaries thread
John McCain is the target of a recall drive in Arizona. It's unlikely to succeed, but it's interestings.

Moneylines: Al Gore 3-1 Al Sharpton 1000-1 Alan Keyes 750-1 Alberto Gonzales 75-1 Arnold Schwarzenegger 250-1 [/ QUOTE ] Seems the books are exploiting the possible naivety of folks. Arnold is unable to be elected President since he was not born in the United States. |

Once the details of his personal life come out in the mainstream (boinking the mistress in the mayor's mansion while still married), I think it's over for him though. |

Obv, this isn't going to happen but I suppose there's a "chance." |

[/ QUOTE ] You know I don't know how much this will matter... I hear what you're saying and the details are, actually, kinda sordid IIRC. My buddy was telling me that he feels, "post-9/11", the voters are not going to put as much emphasis on personal issues / scandals, and are hungry for real leadership and care way more about actual policy issues. Sound right or way off? -Al |
