I think Lindgren's AJ fold was pretty good, actually. Barry bet 20k into the 15k pot. The board was scary, but not too scary. Seems like calling an overbet here with one pair is really exploitable, and Barry is capable of having a set, flush, or two small pair there for sure [/ QUOTE ] Yes, he's capable of having those hands, but he's also capable of making the exact kind of play he made. [ QUOTE ] trying to get paid off big. [/ QUOTE ] If he wanted to get paid off big, he would have bet the turn. Review Barry's line. Pf raise (could be anything), small continuation bet (still anything), check turn (could be a monster, but he should know Erick is going to check behind with a ton of hands here, so more likely a surrender or a mediocre hand that is hoping for a check-behind). Once Erick does check behind, his hand is face up as a draw or a medium ace. He should realize this and know Barry might make a stab on the river. The fact that it was an overbet is brilliant on Barry's part, but should not be a huge surprise (both BG and EL know it will take a big bet to push him off AJ). But like I said before, it seems likes there's history here. Lindgren likely smelled a rat after the turn check, and decided he wasn't calling over a certain number (he folded immediately). I can't criticize it too much, but I think he should probably fold preflop if he's that intimidated by Barry and is going to play the hand like that. |

anyone else notice in the hand with ABA vs Gold where aba had AK and Gold has nothing on the river, GOld bluffs at the pot and just as Aba is calling, Gold says "chop it up" as if to mean that they both had aces splitting the pot (but trying to maybe get aba to fold k high or something that he can't beat).
I mean, I know its easy to rip on JG and all, but stop being an idiot. Aba practically had his chips in the pot when he says "chop it up". Your pathetic table chat will never work. |

Gold's reaction to Aba tabling AK has to be one of the funniest things I've ever seen on a poker show.

[/ QUOTE ] Lord, the Jamie backlash is intense here. Watch the hand again. I'm pretty sure it isn't even Gold who says "chop it up"- much more likely it was another player or observer, as it looked very possible they both had aces. Jamie would have to show his hand anyway in a called pot. No way this was an angle shot, as Jamie turned over his cards as soon as Brian called the bet. I know Gold comes across as kind of a prick, but try watching the show without the blinders on. You'll learn a lot more. |

What was the table talking about when Sammy sat down? They said something like Sammy took some of the others for 7m a while back. Did I hear that correctly?

by far the best moments in this episode were the two jokes gabe kaplan made about brunson and the imaginary mr. swastika.
kaplan: "todd got his har slicked black. looks like a guy that does tv commercials in the deep south." kaplan with southern tonkey accent: "cmon down folks every tv is on sale. get a free tire with every tv you buy." benza: "and of course wasicka is out." kaplan: "did you say swastika is out? kaplan in a loud and heavily germanized accent: "i'm going out, from this casino i will go to, to the bellagio!!!" |

[/ QUOTE ] Maybe you're the one with the blinders on.. because it was indeed him who said "chop chop". He said it as Brian was reaching for his chips discouraging the call if he didn't have the ace. Or maybe he did think Brian also played the board (6 high) since he turned his hand over so proudly without the "You got it" routine. |

Victor Ramdin chasing a straight on a 9QQQ board (and then betting it into 2 people when he hit) is easily the worst play that has ever occured on high stakes poker. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. I have watched every episode of all three seasons and cannot recall anything this unabashedly donkish.. I have very little NL cash game skills, so I tend to not be overly critical of any of these players, but Victor Ramdin is the ONE player I can genuinely say I would not be afraid of. |

It's funny how whenever polls are taken here of the favorite HSP players or who we would want to see in a HSP game hardly any of you ever wants to see Barry. "He's too boring". "He only bets the nuts". I've said again and again that I'd rather see a HSP game with the likes of Barry and Jen Harmon and Sam Farha, and Freddy Deeb than any internet players or tourney winners. Give us players who aren't concerned with the money at these stakes and we will always see better poker as tonights episode just showed. Get rid of the scared players like Wasica, and even Gold, who played loose and a lot of hands but he brought nothing to HSP that was worth watching. I can see his play down at my 5/5 NL game. [/ QUOTE ] I agree with most of this, but get rid of gold??? Why? It always helps to have a loose donkey on the table. |
