I am slightly confused.

John Doe can take a check, "Pay to the order of: George Bush" scribble out a signature and deposit it in John Doe's bank account?

[/ QUOTE ]

I've done it before

same here, was visiting a friend whose bank wouldn't cash 3rd party checks. cashier told us to deposit it at the atm then we could immediatly withdraw it from her.

Slightly off topic: was anyone else who deposited a PP paper cheque charged ~40USD by PP's bank that issued the cheque?

well, it would be 'pay to the order of: john doe' and scribble a signature.

this is usually allowed at banks when you have an account there, since they can wait for checks to clear

[/ QUOTE ]

It wouldn't be as such if a random person intercepted your check. Random person shouldn't have an account in name of John Doe.

[/ QUOTE ]

John Doe is the random person...

[/ QUOTE ]

Sry, I meant "shouldn't have an account in the name of GEORGE BUSH"
