Default AKo round 1, with 6xBB raise in front

$300 MTT, blinds 25/50. Hero has 4500 and villain has him covered. Villain in 2nd position raises to 300. Hero is the 4th position with AKo. Reraise or call? I will present the hand in stages.

Again, read dependent, but this early, I'm sure reads are limited. I think I just smooth call and evaluate from there.

always reraise AK here. question is how much?
his 6xbb raise tells me 2 things. he's scared and he's greedy.
if you make it 600 and he calls, you're left with a 3 pot sized stack at most.
if you make it 1000, you force him to choose between greed (pushing) and fear (folding). someone might come over the top to isolate.
make it 1000.

I like this line too....my thoughts on his 6x bet were the same...maybe a small pp?
I like the smooth call PF and evaluate. If he's scared already, we could consider either a smooth call(to really make him sweat) or a raise of his Cbet on the flop.

yes, i think he has small pp or mid suited connectors.
i just hate calling with such an awesome hand. it's the kind of mistake a 6xbb raiser is hoping to induce from us. don't play his mind games. ABC poker works here.

i just call here too. AQ/AJ will call behind and hang themselves on an A high flop; if we raise the original raiser could fold AQ;and thats not good.

CALL CALL AND CALL AGAIN! What would a reraise be good for? Not for isolation (300 is big enough to scare away more limpers). Not for positional perposes (you already have position).

Also if you reraise he may come back over the top and make you fold. Not a good result.

Lat your position work for you and call.

Barring some sort of read, I call here, but I'm also calling with a bunch of other hands, including AA-QQ. Raising here, putting in 20% of your stack preflop, announces that you have a big hand, and an observant opponent will refuse to give you action with worse hands (AQ aint calling a raise).

I suppose against someone who will make loose calls OOP, then give up very easily on the flop, you could get away with raising now and making a smallish flop bet. I kind of doubt there are many of those in your average $300 online mtt.

FWIW, Dan Harrington seems to agree with the people saying call. HOH p190. I realize the situation he describes isn't exactly like what we have here, but the argument I've read for reraising isn't strong enough to overcome the arguments for calling, and the endorsement of Harrington. Call.
