Check online for a TX Tenant's association or your rights. We own a duplex and the tenant typically has more rights than the stupid landlord. I know in Austin, there is an Austin Tenant's Council you could look into.

In the short term, can't you just get someone else to let you in, like another tenant who is already using the gym/pool? Or the super? If you are currently a tenant, they shouldn't have a problem doing this.
