It's unfortunate you didn't get paid, but you played this fine. Doing anything else would be a major mistake.

The board is great for you , since there was no raise JJ is less probably , you only are in trouble with 88 , I`d flat call on flop , turn depends the size , if it is more than flop bet I`d flat call . River I`d min raise . Dangerous play but a set is a powerfull hand , I`d try to get as chips I can.

flat calling is ok but i prefer a raise. either is fine tho. and yes i bet the turn to get maximum value.

Only thing I would have different is bet more on the turn, so that it's easier to get him all in on the river. I might bet a little more on the flop also, maybe ~400.
