epassporte's virtual card/can it be used over the phone?

I checked through their FAQ's and even shot them an email but have been waiting a little too long for a response as they are presumably backed up with various inquiries.

My question is whether or not you can use your visa virtual card number to purchase something over the phone at a land base store. I know the epassporte debit card is intended to be used for purchases like this but it seems as though you may be able to use the visa virtual card for the same purpose.
I would figure you could just give the merchant the card number, expiration date, and cvv2 number or am I just way off base?

Anybody out there who has done this?

I've used it over the phone by just giving the CC# and exp. date.

Haven't tried it at a retail outlet (or land based store...like you said) yet. I'm pretty sure it would work just fine though.

The only time you actually NEED the plastic Visa is when you have to insert it into a machine (ATM) or physically swipe it (PoS terminals).
